Meet the 6 & Under Team
The 6 & Under (Initiation) Junior Huskies are enjoying a fun-filled hockey season! The parents are so proud and continue to be amazed by their little hockey players. These kids are eager to play, never give up, and are very proud to be part of the Junior Huskies. There is one warning about this ambitious bunch, they really do have stinky hockey gear! Our Coaches and Assistants have been busy teaching Hockey Canada core skills. The highlight of practice is usually a game of "Cops and Robbers."
The Junior Huskies have played several games and have attended tournaments in Carnduff and Bienfait. The Senior Huskies have been inspiring to these players, as they invited the kids to star as All-Star players for each home game. Each player has received a jersey autographed by the Senior Huskies, which they are thrilled to wear at practice.
Parents have been planning for our tournament which is going to be held on Saturday, January 28th. Teams from Estevan, Redvers and Carlyle will be attending. We hope to see you there!
Meet the 8 & Under Team (Novice B)
The Novice Team B consists of: Coaches Doug Pierce and Gerry Stewart and players Kieran Stewart, Austin Leask, John Haithwaite, Tanner Stelwagen, Tyson Logue, Hunter Pierce, Charity Lemieux, Willis Luce and Kylan Pierce(AP).
We have had a great season so far. We have played 11 games, have seven games left to play and have won three and lost eight. The team has really improved since the beginning of the season, skating hard and working on stick handling and passing. If you want to watch a great game of hockey come on down to the rink and watch the Novice B Team!
You'll be sure to watch some great hockey.
Go Huskies!!
Meet the 8 & Under Team (Novice A)
What a season these kids have had so far and more fun yet to come! The Novice A split is coached by Todd Cooley and Ryan Smith with the assistance of Taylor Mayer and Braden Brock. The team consists of #4 Dominic Maffenbeier, #5 McKeiya Solomon, #7 Nash Smith, #12 Levi Cooley, #17 Jack Schnell, #18 Dawson Greenshields, #21 Ace Mercer and #28 Brooke Schulhauser.
To date, we have had five away games and five home games, which were all played with great attitudes and energy, and showed the team coming up with four wins and six losses. We also put a team into Alameda's Novice tournament with the help from some of the Oxbow 6 and Under (Initiation) players.
This group of eight has come together as team, with everyone developing their skills and trying out the different positions. It has been amazing to see how quick they all truly start to understand the many rules of hockey including 'offside' and 'icing' as well as understanding the game as a whole.
We have watched our players become more confident and independent as well as developing a true desire to play!
We would love to have you come out and cheer us on at any of our upcoming games. The remainder of our regular league schedule is as follows:
Sunday, January 29 Oxbow at Lampman 12:00
Thursday, February 2 Alameda in Oxbow 5:15
Saturday, February 4 Oxbow at Carnduff 11:30
Sunday, February 5 Kipling 2 in Oxbow 2:00
Saturday, February 11 Arcola in Oxbow 2:00
Thursday, February 16 Oxbow A vs Oxbow B 5:15

Meet the 12 & Under Team
This year’s Peewee team consists of 14 players: Austin Muir, Trey Mathsion, Travis King, Daylen Greenshields, Mason Scott, Dahlyn Klassen, Brody Nordin, Joe Faber, Nathan Frazer, Justin Byers, Bailey Brock and Liam Cushon. Our boys between the pipes are Callum Spearing and Derek King. Our strong coaching staff consists of head coach Bryce Merkley, with Ian Scott and Rob Byers assisting.
The boys have played 11 games and are currently sitting 4th in the Moose Mountain Minor Hockey League. The team travelled to a tournament in Bismarck in December and had an exciting weekend, coming home with 3rd in the “B” division. Our coaches have taught our players teamwork is our biggest asset and they have putting those skills to work and giving the crowd some amazing hockey to watch!
Currently, the boys are gearing up for provincial play against Kindcaid in a two-game total points series. We travel to Kindcaid on Jan. 20th for game 1. Game 2, back in Oxbow, will take place Sunday Jan. 29th at 2:00pm. Come on out to support our boys and watch some exciting provincial hockey!
Meet the 14 & Under team
The Oxbow Bantams are heading down the stretch towards playoffs sitting in 4th place. They have demonstrated explosive goal scoring ability sitting second in the league for goals for with 94 in 13 games. With just five games remaining they are looking to claw their way up a couple spots to give them some footing heading into the playoffs.
On Saturday, January 14th, the 1st place Carnduff Red Devils team was in town and we were entertained with a fast paced game resulting in the boys dropping a 4 to 3 decision to the visiting team. The Huskies led throughout the game, then with just 50 seconds left on the clock — and a critical face off in the home team's end — the Devils attacked the net and provided just enough chaos to slip one by the Huskies' tender, Tyler Shaw, who had a stellar outing. Game note: Austin Jordison suffered a broken ankle on a blocked shot midway through the third period.
Coach Nick: “We are proud of the way the boys came out tonight, they played a full 60 minutes and it was no doubt a bit of a heart breaker. That’s the way she goes sometimes. We will take what we can from it and prepare for the next game.” The Bantam Huskies remaining schedule is as follows:
Saturday, January 28th, Carlyle Oxbow 6:45 p.m.
Sunday, January 29th, Coronach Oxbow 4:00 p.m.
Saturday, February 4th, Lampman 4:00 p.m.
Sunday, February 5th, Estevan 1:00 p.m. Spectra Place
